Goodbye to a Genius
After being away from tumblr for a very long time, I will dedicate my first post back to Steve Jobs.
Like many of you out there, we got to know Steve through the products he unveiled to us every year. Through the great software that changed computers for the next generation. He was like a parent, who knew exactly what you wanted, before you even thought of it. Could you even imagine a world without smart phones, without tablets, without ultra thin laptops?
I can’t.
I remember using iMac computer for many years in middle and high school. It wasn’t the one that everyone chose to be on, but I enjoyed the different colors. It wasn’t just the boring beige. It was clear and blue. Made me happy to sit in front of the screen and hear the oh so familiar AHHHH of the computer turning on. But Mac computers were a luxury and not everywhere had them.
In college, I owned a PC. Thats what my family could afford. I didn’t complain. It got the work done. But, in my final years in school, my love for Macs rekindled. I got to use Mac computers again. Took a while for me to remember that Ctrl is the Apple button. You close a window on the left, not on the right. There’s no such a thing as Internet Explorer, there is Safari.
I just couldn’t keep away from the Apple anymore. As a graduation gift to myself, I purchased one of my own. Happiest day.
Then the iPhone came out. I was one of those people who got an iPhone right when it came out. I didn’t stand in line, I just waited until everyone left. haha. I loved it. Everyone was jealous. That technology, of a full touch screen has been unheard of in the mobile world. Now, the day after the unveiling of iOS5 and iPhone 4S we see how far Steve Jobs imagination has taken us.
If it wasn’t for Steve Jobs, if it wasn’t for Apple, the world of mobile devices, music devices, laptops, desktop computers and everything that is connected to that, would be…..
The world will never know. All I can say is I am grateful and honored to have lived in a time where there was a great technological genius named Steve Jobs.
